In an interview with PC Gamer, Tomaszkiewicz shared his ambition to craft a game that steers clear of typical superhero tropes found in Marvel movies and similar media. "It’s challenging to craft those stories because the characters just become stronger and stronger," he noted. "I wanted to create a hero who remains grounded, requiring different solutions, yet still offering players a taste of superhuman abilities."

To achieve this, Tomaszkiewicz designed the protagonist, Coen, to embody the dual existence of a half-human, half-vampire. Drawing parallels with the duality seen in characters like Doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Tomaszkiewicz believes this mechanic taps into a well-known pop culture trope yet to be explored in video games. "This adds a new layer to the game's reality," he explained. "It's something novel, and we're eager to see how players respond to it."

This mechanic introduces strategic elements to gameplay, where battling enemies at night could be advantageous, especially against non-vampiric foes. Conversely, daytime challenges might require players to rely more on strategy and intellect, as Coen's vampiric powers are unavailable.

This system ties quests to a time constraint, forcing players to make critical decisions on which missions to pursue and which to forego. "It will compel you to choose wisely," Sadowski stated. "You'll need to decide what to do and what to ignore, maximizing your chances of defeating the main enemy, while also choosing how to approach various problems, which all feeds into the narrative sandbox."
