Elden Ring: Nightreign will omit the in-game messaging feature previously seen in other FromSoftware titles. Project director Junya Ishizaki clarified this decision, stating that the approximately forty-minute gameplay sessions are too short to allow players sufficient time for message writing and reading. The statement reads: "With sessions lasting roughly forty minutes, there isn't enough time to send your own messages or read other people's messages, therefore we disabled the messaging feature."
This departure from FromSoftware's established message-based interaction, a feature historically praised for enhancing player engagement and enjoyment, is noteworthy. However, the development team deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign's design.
To maintain the integrity of the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features a distinct narrative. The game promises a fresh adventure filled with unique challenges and encounters, while retaining the signature atmosphere and intricate world design of its predecessor.
