In Monster Hunter Wilds, Every Weapon Has Its Own Unique Design - IGN First

by Madison Feb 23,2025

Concerns about weapon design similarity in Monster Hunter Rise (Wilds is likely a typo) have been addressed by Director Yuya Tokuda. Unlike Monster Hunter: World, where weapon appearances were largely determined by monster materials, Monster Hunter Rise features uniquely designed weapons.

Tokuda stated that while Monster Hunter: World weapons retained a base form with cosmetic variations based on materials, Monster Hunter Rise weapons boast individual designs. This directly contrasts with the design approach of Monster Hunter: World, where many weapon lines, even at their highest upgrade levels, remained visually similar (as seen in the comparison image below).

This information was revealed during a discussion of Monster Hunter Rise's new starting weapons and Hope series gear, accompanied by concept art. Further details can be found in interviews covering the Oilwell Basin, its inhabitants, and the Apex monster Nu Udra.

Monster Hunter Rise launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on February 28th. IGN First will feature additional exclusive content throughout January, including 4K gameplay videos and further developer interviews.
