Ubisoft has unveiled exciting details about the combat and progression systems in the highly anticipated game, Assassin's Creed Shadows. Game director Charles Benoit provided an in-depth look at the character development mechanics, loot distribution, and the variety of weapons players can expect.
The game introduces two key progression elements: mastery points and knowledge points. Mastery points are acquired by leveling up or taking down formidable foes, while knowledge points are earned through completing missions and discovering items. These points are crucial as they unlock new abilities and enhance weapons, allowing for a more personalized gameplay experience.
In Assassin's Creed Shadows, each weapon features its own unique upgrade tree, enabling players to tailor their builds to their preferred playstyle. An innovative aspect is the ability to reset progress at any time, encouraging players to experiment with various strategies and weapons. Legendary items, such as the naginata, offer unique bonuses that can be pivotal in specific scenarios, like countering attacks that other weapons can't handle.
The combat system is designed to support stealthy takedowns of all enemies, yet it also promotes the use of diverse combat techniques. As players progress, they unlock additional stat upgrades, which allow for further refinement of their skills. The developers have emphasized that mastering all the techniques and upgrades will require a significant time investment, adding depth to the gameplay.
Assassin's Creed Shadows is slated for release on March 20, available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Fans can anticipate a rich gaming experience that seamlessly blends stealth, combat, and strategic progression.
