Eight years after its initial launch, the first-person extraction shooter Escape from Tarkov has officially set its version 1.0 release date: November 15, 2025. This marks more than eight years since the game first entered beta and thirteen years since development originally began.
Developer Battlestate Games announced the release date alongside patch notes for update 0.16.9.0, which serves as an “interim milestone” delivering a substantial wave of improvements and changes. Meanwhile, the team is concentrating on refining the final build of the game.
The primary focus, according to Battlestate Games, is the one-way synchronization between EFT: Arena and the EFT PvE Zone. This feature allows progress in EFT: Arena to carry over to PvE mode, but not vice versa.
“This one-way synchronization introduces the trader Ref, currency transfer capabilities, synchronization of Tactical Clothing sets and Battle Pass rewards, along with several other enhancements,” Battlestate Games stated. “Additionally, enemy AI systems and in-game audio have been improved.”
Escape from Tarkov update 0.16.9.0 patch notes:
-----------------------------------------------
Changes:
PvE mode synchronization
Added one-way synchronization between Escape from Tarkov: Arena and Escape from Tarkov PvE mode.
The key feature of this update is that progress in EFT: Arena syncs with PvE mode, but progress in PvE mode does not sync back to Arena (excluding regular tasks).
Trader Ref
Ref has been added to PvE mode with his associated tasks and trade offers; task lines in both PvP and PvE modes now include a special label identifying the game mode; these tasks can be completed simultaneously across both modes.
Item transfer
Currency (Roubles, GP coins, Lega Medals) and loot crates can now be transferred to PvE mode; items and currency from PvE mode cannot be sent to EFT: Arena; a game mode selection option for item transfer is available under Ref’s services tab; item transfer between Arena and PvP mode remains unchanged; transfer limits are now independent between the two game modes and do not affect each other.
Tactical clothing
Obtaining clothing in EFT: Arena unlocks it in both PvP and PvE mode; obtaining clothing in PvP mode unlocks it only in EFT: Arena; obtaining clothing in PvE mode does not unlock it in PvP mode or EFT: Arena.
BattlePass
Rewards earned in the BattlePass are now unlocked in PvE mode; previously earned BattlePass rewards, including trade offers and clothing, are also made available in PvE mode.
In-game tasks
After completing tasks in EFT: Arena, rewards are deposited into your in-game stash and can be transferred to either PvP or PvE mode.
Trader standing
Trader standing gained in EFT: Arena is applied to both PvE and PvP mode; completing tasks in PvE mode grants standing only in PvE mode; completing tasks in PvP mode grants standing in both PvP mode and EFT: Arena. Note: Trader standing may differ between EFT: Arena and PvE mode since PvE standing does not transfer to EFT: Arena.
Character experience, skills, and weapon mastery
Experience, skills, and weapon mastery earned in EFT: Arena are transferred to both PvE and PvP mode; gaining experience in PvE mode does not transfer to other modes; gaining experience in PvP mode also transfers to EFT: Arena. Note: Experience, skills, and mastery may differ between EFT: Arena and PvE mode since PvE progress does not transfer to EFT: Arena.
Character wipes
In the event of a character wipe—global, personal, or Prestige—in PvP or EFT: Arena, only progress in PvP and EFT: Arena is reset; tasks related to PvE mode and EFT: Arena remain unaffected. If a character wipe occurs in PvE mode, progress is reset solely in PvE mode; tasks tied to PvP mode and EFT: Arena are preserved; tasks tied to PvE mode and EFT: Arena are reset.
