Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is releasing hotfix 4.1, directly addressing player concerns following the controversial Patch 4.0. The developers, Saber Interactive, have announced the creation of public test servers for 2025 in response to significant negative feedback.
Space Marine 2's Patch 4.0 Nerfs Prompt Urgent Reversal & Public Test Server Announcement
Nerfs Reverted, Starting October 24th
Patch 4.1, launching October 24th, will undo the most impactful balance changes introduced in Patch 4.0. This decision follows widespread player criticism and negative reviews on Steam. Game director Dmitriy Grigorenko stated that the team is responding to player feedback and plans to launch public test servers around early 2025 to prevent similar issues in the future.
The initial nerfs in Patch 4.0, aimed at increasing difficulty by adjusting enemy spawns, inadvertently impacted easier difficulty settings. The developers acknowledged this oversight and are now reverting these changes.
Specifically, Extremis enemy spawn rates will return to pre-Patch 4.0 levels for Minimal, Average, and Substantial difficulties, and will be significantly reduced on Ruthless difficulty. Additionally, player armor on Ruthless difficulty will receive a 10% increase, and bots will deal 30% more damage to bosses.
Hotfix 4.1 also includes substantial buffs to Bolt weapons, addressing their underperformance across all difficulty levels. The following changes are included:
- Auto Bolt Rifle: +20% Damage
- Bolt Rifle: +10% Damage
- Heavy Bolt Rifle: +15% Damage
- Stalker Bolt Rifle: +10% Damage
- Marksman Bolt Carbine: +10% Damage
- Instigator Bolt Carbine: +10% Damage
- Bolt Sniper Rifle: +12.5% Damage
- Bolt Carbine: +15% Damage
- Oculus Bolt Carbine: +15% Damage
- Heavy Bolter: +5% Damage (x2)
Saber Interactive will continue monitoring player feedback post-Patch 4.1 to ensure the Lethal difficulty remains appropriately challenging.
