Complete Infested Missions and Reap Rewards in 7 Days To Die

This guide details completing infested clear missions in 7 Days To Die, focusing on initiation, completion strategies, and rewards.

Quick Links

7 Days To Die offers various mission types, with infested missions standing out for their difficulty and rewards. These missions, unlocked after completing 10 Tier 1 missions, present a significant challenge, offering substantial XP, loot, and rare items.

Starting an Infested Clear Mission

To begin, interact with one of the five traders (Rekt, Jen, Bob, Hugh, or Joe). Mission difficulty scales with tier level and biome; wasteland missions are tougher than forest missions. Infested missions are available from Tier 2 onwards. Expect increased zombie numbers and tougher variants (radiated, cops, ferals) compared to standard clear missions. Tier 6 missions are the most challenging but offer the best rewards for well-equipped players. The objective remains consistent: eliminate all enemies within a designated area.

Upon reaching the Point of Interest (POI), activate the mission marker. Leaving the POI or dying results in mission failure. The game often guides players through a specific, potentially hazardous route. Avoid this by finding alternative paths to circumvent traps and ambush zombies. Carrying building blocks allows for quick escape from traps or creating alternate access points.

Zombies are indicated by red dots on the screen; larger dots signify closer proximity. Prioritize headshots. Be aware of special zombie types:

Zombie Type Abilities Counter-Strategy
Cops Spit toxic vomit, explode when injured Maintain distance, use cover before they spit.
Spiders Jump long distances Listen for their screech before they jump.
Screamers Summon other zombies Prioritize eliminating them.
Demolition Zombies Carry explosive packages Avoid hitting their chests; run if the explosive beeps.

The final room usually contains high-tier loot, but also a large number of zombies. Ensure you are fully prepared (health, ammo, escape route) before entering.

After clearing all zombies, the objective changes; return to the trader to claim your reward. Collect all loot, including the infested cache, which contains valuable ammo and items.

Infested Clear Mission Rewards

Rewards are random but influenced by game stage, loot stage (boosted by the "Lucky Looter" skill and Treasure Hunter mod), mission tier, and skill point allocation. The "A Daring Adventurer" perk significantly improves rewards; at rank 4, it allows selecting two rewards instead of one. Selling unwanted items provides additional XP.
