How To Fix Marvel Rivals Compiling Shaders Slow on Launch

by Grace Jan 26,2025

Many Marvel Rivals players are experiencing extended shader compilation times on launch. This guide offers a solution to speed up this process.

Addressing Slow Shader Compilation in Marvel Rivals

Game loading times can vary, especially online titles. However, Marvel Rivals PC players report significant delays (several minutes) during shader compilation. Shaders are crucial for rendering 3D graphics correctly, and improper installation can lead to issues. While the game may appear to be functioning correctly, this lengthy compilation process is a common problem.

A community-discovered solution effectively addresses this:

  1. Access Nvidia Control Panel: Locate and open your Nvidia control panel.
  2. Adjust Shader Cache Size: Navigate to the global settings and find the Shader Cache Size option.
  3. Set a Lower Value: Set this value to a size less than or equal to your VRAM. The available options are limited (5GB, 10GB, 100GB), so select the closest appropriate value to your VRAM capacity.

This adjustment significantly reduces shader compilation time, often to a few seconds, and also resolves "Out of VRAM memory" errors.

While a permanent fix from NetEase is pending, this workaround provides a practical solution to avoid lengthy loading times.

Marvel Rivals is currently available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
