On February 7, 2025, inZOI game director Hyungjun Kim shared exciting news on Discord about the upcoming Karma system. This innovative feature will allow deceased Zois to transform into ghosts based on their accumulated Karma points.

Despite inZOI's commitment to realism, Kim is eager to incorporate paranormal elements into the gameplay. He explained, "If a Zoi dies with enough karma points, they move on to the afterlife, but those who don’t make the cut have to remain as ghosts until they restore sufficient karma points." While the exact methods to restore Karma points remain under wraps, this system promises to add a thrilling layer to the game.

Kim stressed the importance of balance, stating, "We want to keep the playability of ghosts fairly limited so it doesn’t overshadow the main gameplay, but we also want to make sure the experience is engaging enough when it does happen." During the Early Access phase, interactions with ghost Zois will be limited to special conversations at specific times and under certain conditions.

Kim also shared his vision for the future, saying, "While we’re committed to refining the realistic elements of inZOI first, I’d love to explore more fantasy-driven elements in the future. Occasionally stepping away from the game's native, ultra-realistic setting could add an extra layer of fun to our simulation of this vast and complex concept we call life!"

In August 2024, inZOI's publisher, Krafton Inc., collaborated with content creators to showcase the game's features. One such partner, MadMorph, offered a sneak peek into the Karma system in a sponsored video.

At the fifteen-minute mark of MadMorph’s inZOI video, he demonstrated a feature called Karma Interactions. This option presents a variety of actions that can impact a Zoi's Karma points positively or negatively. For example, MadMorph’s character performed a mischievous act by secretly farting on another Zoi's face, eliciting a reaction from the NPC. Conversely, positive actions like "Throw Away Trash" or "Like a Friend’s Post" are also available, though not shown in the video.

Kim clarified that while the Early Access version of inZOI, launching on Steam on March 28, 2025, will focus on gameplay "while the Zois are still alive," the Karma Interactions will play a more significant role in future updates. Fans eager to explore this innovative system need only wait a few more weeks to get their hands on the game.
