Obsidian's Confidence in The Outer Worlds 2 and Avowed

In a YouTube interview with Limit Break Network, Urquhart confirmed that development on The Outer Worlds 2 is proceeding smoothly. He praised the dedicated team, many of whom worked on the original title, highlighting their expertise and commitment.

Navigating Past Challenges

Urquhart acknowledged significant hurdles, particularly the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the studio's acquisition by Microsoft. Simultaneous development of multiple titles, including Grounded and Pentiment, presented considerable challenges. He candidly admitted a period of strained development, even mentioning initial discussions about halting The Outer Worlds 2 to focus resources on Avowed. However, Obsidian ultimately persevered, continuing development across all projects.

Despite the past difficulties, Urquhart expressed confidence in the outcome, noting the successful launches of Grounded and Pentiment, and the promising progress on Avowed. He described The Outer Worlds 2 as "looking incredible," although specific details remained undisclosed. With Avowed's release pushed to 2025, a similar timeline adjustment for The Outer Worlds 2 is anticipated.

Positive Outlook for Obsidian's ProjectsWhile acknowledging the lack of recent updates and the possibility of a delayed release, Urquhart reaffirmed Obsidian's commitment to delivering high-quality games. He confirmed that both The Outer Worlds 2 and Avowed are slated for release on PC and Xbox Series S/X. While initial timelines may not be met, the studio remains dedicated to delivering exceptional gaming experiences.
