Ahmed Alameen, a talented writer and filmmaker, is set to unveil his inaugural point-and-click adventure game, My Father Lied, on May 30th. This solo project is a narrative-driven puzzler that draws inspiration from the rich tapestry of Mesopotamian history. In My Father Lied, players step into the shoes of Huda, a young woman determined to unravel the mystery behind her father's disappearance, which occurred twenty years prior. The plot thickens when Huda discovers the existence of a brother she never knew about, propelling her into a deep investigation.
Originally, Alameen embarked on this journey with a college classmate, where he served as the narrative designer. However, following the dissolution of their partnership, Alameen took it upon himself to delve deeper into game design, ultimately deciding to complete the project solo.
In My Father Lied, players will navigate through the game using intuitive point-and-click mechanics, piecing together images, cracking codes, and solving puzzles amidst hauntingly beautiful environments. Alameen likens the game's atmosphere to a blend of Myst, Heaven's Vault, and the eerie storytelling of H.P. Lovecraft's works.
To achieve high-quality visuals that remain accessible to low-end PCs, Alameen adopted a unique approach. The game features a mix of 2D and 360-degree images, with meticulously crafted frame-by-frame cutscenes that enhance the storytelling experience.
Set to launch on May 30th, My Father Lied will be available on the App Store, Google Play, and for PC via Steam at a price of $10.99/€10.99. While it's currently possible to add the game to your Steam Wishlist, mobile pre-registration is not yet available.
