Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 2.3 Details Set, Delayed for Switch 2

by Zachary Apr 06,2026

Cyberpunk 2077's Update 2.3 arrives on July 17th, CD Projekt Red has confirmed. It will be available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, though the Nintendo Switch 2 version will be delayed.

During a recent livestream, developers explained that the studio requires additional time to finalize patch 2.3 for the Switch 2 edition of the game. While a precise release date wasn't confirmed, they stated it will follow "shortly after" the console and PC launch.

Paweł Sasko, Associate Game Director for Cyberpunk 2077, outlined that this update centers on vehicle enhancements and customization. Lead Designer Adrien Jouannet from support studio Virtuos, which assisted with the update, detailed that version 2.3 introduces three new cars and the game's first customizable motorcycle. Each new vehicle is unlocked by completing a brief quest, which Sasko described as easy to discover. Notably, these new quests do not count toward 100% completion for dedicated achievement hunters.

Update 2.3 also introduces the AutoDrive feature, allowing for hands-free vehicle navigation across Night City. This in-game software update equips all vehicles with autonomous driving capabilities. Players can set a destination marker and let their vehicle handle the trip. For this feature to work, the car must stay on designated roads and will obey standard traffic laws, including stopping at red lights.

If a player comes under attack while using AutoDrive, the system will automatically disengage so the player can handle combat. Sasko mentioned the team has optimized the feature to minimize random combat encounters, so players will likely need to deliberately enter hostile situations to trigger a fight.

A roaming mode is included as well, where vehicles will drive endlessly in free roam, perfect for explorers who want to soak in the atmosphere. Additionally, players can now hire the Delamain AI taxi service for AutoDrive journeys, letting the iconic AI chauffeur you around the city.

Paired with the existing cinematic camera, AutoDrive offers new ways to experience Night City from a more dramatic, film-like perspective. Sasko noted this addition was inspired by community videos showcasing lengthy, scenic drives through the city. The Photo Mode remains fully accessible during autonomous travel.

Speaking of Photo Mode, version 2.3 brings several major upgrades. Users can now manually adjust the time of day and weather conditions for their scenes. Twenty-seven new NPCs are available to populate shots, alongside new outfits and more natural poses for the main protagonists. CD Projekt also hinted at an upcoming Photo Mode contest for the community.

On the technical front, PC players will gain support for AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3.1 (FSR 3.1) starting tomorrow. While support for the upcoming FSR 4 is confirmed, Sasko clarified it will require a future AMD driver update. HDR10+ gaming support has been officially implemented. Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support is also coming to the console versions of the game.

Finally, the studio confirmed the previously announced Mac version of Cyberpunk 2077 will launch simultaneously with Update 2.3 on July 17th.

Is this the final update for Cyberpunk 2077? The developer had previously indicated that earlier patches marked a conclusion for the nearly five-year-old title, leaving the door open for future possibilities. During the stream, Sasko did not confirm nor deny this. The question remains: will the game celebrate its fifth anniversary this December with one last major update?
