Bandai Namco recently unveiled a captivating new trailer for Freedom Wars Remastered, showcasing the title's gameplay and revamped control systems. Set in a dystopian world, players battle colossal mechanical creatures known as Abductors, upgrade their gear, and undertake various missions. The remastered version brings a host of updates, including enhanced graphics, faster-paced gameplay, a revamped crafting system, a new difficulty mode, and all the original customization DLC.
The journey of Freedom Wars began as a response to Sony losing exclusivity for the Monster Hunter series. When Capcom shifted its renowned monster-hunting games to Nintendo's newer consoles like the Wii and Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation's parent company developed Freedom Wars for the PS Vita. While its futuristic setting starkly contrasts with Monster Hunter, the gameplay loop remains strikingly similar. Players engage in combat with Abductors, harvest their parts, and upgrade their gear to enhance their combat capabilities.
The new trailer introduces players to the main character, a Sinner convicted of the crime of being born, in a world where natural resources are depleted. The Sinner's mission is to contribute to their Panopticon, or city-state, by undertaking tasks such as rescuing citizens, destroying Abductors, and capturing control systems. These missions can be tackled solo or through online co-op.
Freedom Wars Remastered Showcases Its Gameplay Systems
The trailer meticulously highlights the improvements in Freedom Wars Remastered. A significant upgrade is in the graphics, with resolutions soaring from 544p to 2160p (4K) on PS5 and PC, all while maintaining a smooth 60 FPS. On PS4, players can expect a maximum resolution of 1080p at 60 FPS, whereas the Switch version will offer 1080p at 30 FPS. The gameplay has been enhanced for a faster-paced experience, featuring improved design elements like increased movement speed and the ability to cancel weapon attacks.
The crafting and upgrade systems have been completely overhauled, now featuring more intuitive interfaces and the ability to attach and detach modules freely. A new feature, module synthesis, allows players to enhance modules with the help of rescued citizens. Additionally, the trailer introduces the Deadly Sinner difficulty mode, tailored for hardcore players, and confirms that all customization DLC from the original PS Vita version will be available right from the start.
Freedom Wars Remastered is set to launch on January 10 for PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC, promising an immersive and thrilling experience for both new players and returning fans.
