EVO 2024 showcased three of seven titles from Marvel vs Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, featuring six cornerstone games from the legendary crossover series. The collection includes the critically acclaimed Marvel vs Capcom 2, often celebrated as one of gaming's finest fighters. IGN sat down with producer Shuhei Matsumoto, who detailed Capcom's passionate approach to the franchise and the project's extensive development timeline.

Matsumoto explained the collection represents three to four years of development, starting with complex Marvel licensing negotiations that initially slowed progress. "This passion project required about three years to finalize," Matsumoto remarked, emphasizing both companies' enthusiasm for reintroducing these classics. The successful collaboration demonstrates Capcom's dedication to preserving its fighting game heritage while satisfying longtime fans.
