The highly anticipated Amazon adaptation of the video game "God of War" is already set for two seasons, even before its premiere, as confirmed by showrunner Ronald D. Moore. Moore, who stepped in after the exit of previous showrunner Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus, shared insights into his new project during a conversation with fellow "Battlestar Galactica" alum Katee Sackhoff.
"Right now, I'm working on an adaptation of, there's a video game called God of War, a big title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of and they've asked me to come in," Moore explained. "So I'm literally in the writer's room, and working on that. That's my new thing."

Despite not being a gamer, Moore expressed his familiarity with classic arcade games like Defender, Asteroids, and Centipede. He humorously recounted his struggles with modern gaming controllers, saying, "'Press R1.' Which one's R1? Oh, I'm dead."
For the "God of War" series, Moore is not just the showrunner but also serves as a writer and executive producer. His previous credits include "Star Trek: The Next Generation," "Deep Space Nine," and the acclaimed 2000s revival of "Battlestar Galactica."
Although some members of the original team have departed, Sony's Cory Barlog remains involved as an executive producer. The series will be based on the 2018 "God of War" game, though further details are yet to be finalized.
Amazon's track record of quickly renewing successful video game adaptations, such as "Fallout" and "Secret Level," suggests a promising future for "God of War" on their streaming platform.
