PlayStation State of Play 2025: Key Announcements Revealed

The PlayStation State of Play presentation held on the night of February 12-13, 2025, unveiled a thrilling lineup of upcoming games and exciting updates. Sony provided a showcase of trailers and teasers, giving fans a glimpse into what to expect in the coming months.

Borderlands 4

The star of the show, Borderlands 4, offered a sneak peek of its gameplay, featuring an abundance of guns, enemies, and the series' signature humor. More details are set to be revealed in the next State of Play, with the game slated for a launch on September 23, 2025.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Capcom's iconic Onimusha series continues with Onimusha: Way of the Sword. The trailer showcased stylish samurai combat against demons from Japan's underworld, drawing comparisons to Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Players will skillfully wield swords in brutal battles while uncovering mysteries and intrigues in feudal Kyoto. The game is set for release in 2026, with a remastered version of Onimusha 2 arriving on May 23, 2025.

Saros

Finnish studio Housemarque, known for Returnal, teased their new game, Saros. Details are sparse, but it promises an evolution of their rogue-like third-person action gameplay, combined with a surreal narrative inspired by David Lynch. Set on the planet Carcosa under threat from a "sinister eclipse," the game draws from Indian mythology, with the protagonist, Arjun Devraj, facing multi-armed creatures. Saros is planned for a 2026 release.

Hell is Us

Directed by Jonathan Jacques-Belletête, the art director of Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Hell is Us is an action-adventure game described as "Death Stranding with action." Inspired by Alex Garland’s film Annihilation and Jeff VanderMeer’s Southern Reach trilogy, it takes place in a war-torn country amidst an otherworldly apocalypse. The game is set to release on September 4, 2025.

Days Gone Remastered

The remastered edition of Days Gone promises updated graphics and several new modes. It will be available starting April 25, 2025.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

A remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will feature all the original bosses and is set for release on August 28, 2025.

MindsEye

Leslie Benzies, known for his work on L.A. Noire, Max Payne 3, and GTA 5, showcased the first trailer for MindsEye since leaving Rockstar Games. This project aims to redefine gaming and is nearing completion with a summer 2025 release.

Overture DLC for Lies of P

The Overture DLC for Lies of P will explore the protagonist's backstory in a snowy city named Krat, set for release in summer 2025.

Stellar Blade PC Version & Goddess of Victory Crossover

The PC version of Stellar Blade, along with a crossover with Goddess of Victory, is scheduled for June 2025.

Lost Soul Aside

This Final Fantasy-style adventure, Lost Soul Aside, is set to debut on May 30, 2025.

Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic

A gameplay trailer for Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic was shown, with the game set for release on June 13.

Tides of Annihilation

Tides of Annihilation blends elements of Elden Ring and Stellar Blade, set in a fantasy version of London.

Metal Eden

This first-person sci-fi shooter, Metal Eden, is exclusive to PS5 and will be released on May 6, 2025.

Monster Hunter Wilds

Post-launch updates for Monster Hunter Wilds were announced, including new monsters and quests.

Shinobi: Art of Vengeance

A return to the classic Shinobi series, Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, is being developed by its original creators and is set to release on August 29, 2025.

A cooperative adventure from Josef Fares, Split Fiction, is scheduled for release on March 6, 2025.

Directive 8020 is a sci-fi survival horror game inspired by John Carpenter’s The Thing and the Alien franchise.

The Midnight Walk

A dark fantasy VR adventure in Tim Burton style, The Midnight Walk, is set for PS5 and PS VR2, with a release date of May 8, 2025.

Dreams of Another

Dreams of Another is a shooter with fully destructible environments, echoing the creativity of Dreams, and is coming soon.
