In a heartfelt revelation, popular YouTuber Jacksepticeye, whose real name is Seán William McLoughlin, shared his disappointment over the collapse of a Soma animated show project he had been working on for a year. In his latest video titled 'A Bad Month,' Jacksepticeye expressed his frustration and sadness over the project's unexpected cancellation.
Soma, a critically acclaimed survival horror science fiction game developed by Frictional Games, was released in 2015. Jacksepticeye, a long-time fan of the game, had been deeply involved in planning an animated adaptation. He described Soma as one of his top favorite video games, praising its compelling story.

Jacksepticeye explained that he had been in discussions with the game's developers for a year, eagerly preparing to announce the project. However, the project abruptly fell apart when an unnamed party decided to take the project in a "different direction." This sudden change left Jacksepticeye "quite upset" and unwilling to delve into the specifics of what transpired.
The cancellation not only affected Jacksepticeye emotionally but also disrupted his plans for 2025. He had intended to focus his efforts on the animated show, which would have reduced his content uploads. The collapse of the project left him questioning his priorities and future plans, describing the past month as "tough" and "frustrating."
Following Soma's release, Frictional Games continued to expand their portfolio with two more Amnesia titles: Amnesia: Rebirth in 2020 and Amnesia: The Bunker in 2023. In a statement from July 2023, Frictional's creative director Thomas Grip mentioned the company's interest in exploring themes beyond horror, aiming to focus on other emotional qualities and immersive experiences in their games.
