Mastering the Haunted Mirror in Phasmophobia: A Guide to Risk and Reward

In Phasmophobia, tackling the most elusive ghosts often necessitates employing special Cursed Possessions. While these offer significant advantages, they come with inherent risks. The Haunted Mirror stands out as a particularly useful, yet manageable, Cursed Object. This guide explains its functionality.

Haunted Mirror in Phasmophobia

The Haunted Mirror is arguably the safest Cursed Object in Phasmophobia, its benefits significantly outweighing the potential dangers. Its function remains consistent across game updates, making its use highly recommended if encountered during an investigation.

Its primary advantage lies in its ability to reveal the ghost's current preferred room or area. A panoramic view of this location is displayed in the mirror's reflection, significantly accelerating the ghost's location and allowing for strategic equipment placement before the investigation becomes perilous.

The Haunted Mirror typically appears hanging on a wall (as seen in 6 Tanglewood Drive) or resting on the floor in a predetermined spot. Cursed Objects always spawn in the same location on a map; the randomness lies in which Cursed Object appears.

To utilize the Haunted Mirror, simply pick it up and use the designated interaction button (mouse or controller) to hold it aloft. The ghost's favored room will then be visible in its reflection. On Professional difficulty and above, remember that the ghost's location might shift after a certain time.

However, prolonged gazing into the Haunted Mirror depletes sanity. Holding it for the entire duration will shatter the mirror, triggering a Cursed Hunt at your precise location. Therefore, utilize it when your sanity is high and ensure you understand the reflection's contents.

Cursed Possessions, informally known as "Cursed Objects," are unique items randomly spawning on any map (though this can vary depending on difficulty or Challenge Mode).

Unlike standard equipment, which helps locate and gather evidence with minimal risk, Cursed Objects offer shortcuts to manipulate the ghost but at a substantially higher risk to your character's well-being.

The risk associated with each Cursed Object differs, leaving the decision of whether to use them to the player(s). No penalty is incurred for not using them. Only one Cursed Possession spawns per contract (unless modified in Custom settings).

Seven Cursed Objects exist in the game:

  • Summoning Circle
  • Haunted Mirror
  • Voodoo Doll
  • Music Box
  • Tarot Cards
  • Ouija Board
  • Monkey Paw
