Elden Ring Nightreign Patch Cuts Solo Difficulty, Fixes Bugs

by Jonathan Sep 30,2025

FromSoftware has rolled out Elden Ring Nightreign's inaugural post-launch update (patch 1.01.1), significantly enhancing the solo player experience with quality-of-life improvements.

The update, currently live on PC (Steam), PlayStation 4/5, and Xbox platforms, introduces an "Automatic Revival Upon Defeat" mechanic - granting players one resurrection per Night Boss encounter during solo expeditions. Additionally, solo adventurers now earn substantially more runes.

This welcome change addresses player concerns about Nightreign's punishing solo difficulty. As noted in IGN's Elden Ring Nightreign review: "Prospective solo players should heed this warning: Nightreign presents extraordinary challenges without teammate support. While technically playable solo, the current balancing clearly favors cooperative play - a design choice we expect will be refined in future updates. This assessment comes from seasoned Soulsborne veterans who typically relish difficult gameplay."

The update also improves expedition rewards - increasing high-tier Relic drops upon reaching Day 3 and boosting rare Relic acquisition rates from Scenic Flat stones purchased at the Small Jar Bazaar. Complete patch notes from Bandai Namco follow below.

Recent server issues regarding matchmaking have prompted FromSoftware to issue troubleshooting guidance. Community feedback continues to highlight missing features like duo co-op and voice chat - limitations that compound the inherent challenge of assembling coordinated three-player groups.

Celebrating Nightreign's record-breaking launch (2 million copies sold in 24 hours), producer Yasuhiro Kitao reflected on social media: "Nightreign's unconventional design represents a deliberate departure from our recent titles. We're humbled by players embracing these experimental systems.

"Much like Demon's Souls or Sekiro, initial confusion gives way to profound satisfaction upon mastering Nightreign's unique challenges. That hard-earned sense of achievement remains unparalleled.

"We sincerely hope players enjoy this distinctive experience."
