The latest Dune: Awakening patch brings significant improvements to endgame PvE gameplay, introducing better Tier 6 resource farming and enhanced Unique drop rates in Deep Desert areas.
Funcom recently expanded the PvE zone in Deep Desert from covering roughly 10% to now encompassing half the map territory. This decision followed player feedback during an AMA where developers acknowledged concerns about Deep Desert PvP dynamics. Some players had criticized the endgame experience as excessively hostile, particularly regarding Ornithopter-related griefing tactics - from players supposedly squashing others with their aircraft to intentionally blocking farming attempts by landing on opponents' thopters.
While the previous major update (v1.1.10.00) focused primarily on quality-of-life improvements rather than endgame solutions, this newest patch directly addresses Deep Desert progression concerns. One standout change empowers PvE-focused players by making Tier 6 resources more readily available outside dangerous PvP zones - a welcome alteration considering how difficult these materials were to consistently obtain.
PvP enthusiasts haven't been neglected either. Notable changes include extending the security zone departure timer from 5 to 30 seconds, discouraging border camping while giving defensive players better area control opportunities.
