The classic role-playing game, Breath of Fire IV, has been resurrected on PC, a full 25 years after its initial launch. Originally released on the PlayStation in Japan and North America in 2000, with a European release following in 2001, and a PC port in Europe and Japan in 2003, this beloved Capcom title follows the journey of Ryu, a man with the unique ability to transform into a dragon. Alongside a band of warriors, Ryu embarks on a quest to thwart an emperor's destructive ambitions.
As part of its ongoing Preservation Program, GOG has meticulously updated Breath of Fire IV to ensure compatibility with modern PCs, offering a DRM-free experience on their platform. The enhanced version is optimized for Windows 10 and 11, featuring both English and Japanese localizations. The game boasts improved graphics thanks to an upgraded DirectX renderer, along with new display options such as Windowed Mode, V-Sync, Anti-Aliasing, and refined gamma correction for enhanced visuals. Additionally, the audio engine has been overhauled to restore missing environmental sounds and introduce new configuration options.
