Assassin's Creed Shadows DLC, Free Updates Detailed

Ubisoft has unveiled its roadmap for the first year of post-launch content for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, featuring upcoming additions like New Game Plus, expanded difficulty options, story expansions, and quality-of-life improvements.

The developer detailed its 2025 plans in a concise 4.5-minute video released today, outlining scheduled updates for May and June. This strategic approach demonstrates Ubisoft's commitment to retaining players through regular free content drops for its latest stealth-action installment.

The update cycle begins in early May with "The Works of Luis Frois," the first free narrative expansion. This drop will coincide with Codex enhancements, gameplay refinements, improved parkour mechanics, and an upgraded photo mode. Ubisoft emphasizes these changes reflect player feedback, showcasing their ongoing community-driven development philosophy.

"Player input has been instrumental throughout Shadows' development and remains our priority post-launch," explained community developer Daniel St. Germain in the announcement. "We're implementing regular updates that address community requests while polishing the experience across all platforms."

June will introduce another story expansion alongside advanced difficulty options, immersive gameplay settings, an open-world alert system, and toggleable cutscene headgear visibility. While these highly-requested features arrive mid-year, players can anticipate additional content including New Game Plus, narrative expansions, and special collaborations before 2025 concludes.

The most significant upcoming content is the paid expansion "Claws of Awaji," scheduled for later this year. This DLC promises approximately 10 hours of new gameplay featuring the Bo staff weapon and unexplored regions for protagonists Naoe and Yasuke. Early adopters who pre-ordered the base game will receive this expansion at no additional cost.

Launched March 20 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, Assassin's Creed Shadows marks the franchise's long-awaited debut in Feudal Japan. The critically acclaimed title secured its place among 2025's best games while becoming last month's top-selling release.
