Nintendo has officially confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for the Nintendo Switch 2 will indeed support cloud saves, much to the relief of fans. Earlier concerns arose after a disclaimer on Nintendo's website indicated that the game might not include this feature. However, the company has since updated its information to clarify the situation.
Originally, the disclaimer for Tears of the Kingdom on the Switch 2 stated: "Please note: this software does not support the Nintendo Switch Online paid membership’s Save Data Cloud backup feature." This led to confusion and worry among the gaming community. But now, Nintendo has revised this message to: "Save data created in the second save data slot in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition cannot be transferred to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on Nintendo Switch."
This updated disclaimer suggests that players will be able to transfer their existing Switch 1 saves of Tears of the Kingdom to the new Switch 2, but transfers back to the original console will not be possible. This clarification should reassure Switch 2 owners who were concerned about their save data. The same message has also been added to the page for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, indicating a consistent approach to save transfers across these titles.
In other news, pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 have gone live, maintaining a price point of $449.99. The demand has been as strong as anticipated. For more details on securing your own, check out IGN's Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order guide.
