Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members have a new advantage at their fingertips: the ability to stream select games directly to their consoles, eliminating the need for downloads. This exciting update was shared via an Xbox Wire news post today, revealing that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members can now stream games from the Game Pass catalog, as well as certain games they already own, on their Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One consoles through cloud streaming.
Previously, this streaming capability was accessible on smart TVs, PCs, smartphones, and Meta Quest headsets, marking this as a pioneering feature on consoles. It's designed to save players time and conserve valuable hard drive space, allowing for a more seamless gaming experience.
To take advantage of this feature on your Xbox console, follow these steps:
- Go to My games & apps > Full library > Owned Games.
- Look for games with a cloud badge on their page, indicating they are available for cloud streaming.
- Utilize filters to find games more efficiently. Select Filter > Ready to play > Cloud gaming.
- Choose the game you wish to play and select Play with Cloud Gaming to start streaming.
- Alternatively, you can start streaming directly from the Store app after purchasing select cloud playable games.
In a complementary move, users can also stream any game installed on their Xbox consoles to devices with supported web browsers using this link. Note that while this feature is no longer supported on the Xbox mobile app, it remains accessible on smartphones via the provided browser link. Xbox is actively working to extend this streaming capability to Samsung and Amazon Fire smart TVs, as well as Meta Quest headsets.
Additionally, Xbox has announced that starting this month, Xbox and Xbox 360 backward compatible games will also support remote play, enhancing the versatility of their gaming ecosystem.
