The Sony Bravia XR X93L was launched in March 2023. At that time, it was the second-highest-tier non-OLED TV in Sony's lineup, just behind the X95L model (which was only available in an 85-inch screen size in the United States). The X93L utilizes Mini LED technology, which delivers exceptional performance with HDR content. As the name suggests, Mini-LED panels feature a dense array of tiny LEDs that can be controlled independently, significantly improving black levels and contrast ratio. With more and smaller LEDs, Mini-LED allows for precise control over brightness in different areas of the screen.
The X93L is also an excellent choice for gaming. It includes four HDMI ports, two of which support the HDMI 2.1 standard. HDMI 2.1 enables 4K output at refresh rates up to 120Hz, making it ideal for current-generation consoles like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to be capped at 60fps in 4K when docked, so HDMI 2.1 is not a requirement for that system.
