Oblivion Remastered and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Arrive on Game Pass This Week

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate – 1 Month Membership – Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows, Cloud Gaming Devices [Digital Code]

$19.99 at Amazon

I had originally been an Xbox gamer before fully transitioning to PC gaming. Steam's frequent sales typically satisfied my needs for new releases. While I was aware of Game Pass and its occasional major titles, it never felt essential for me personally – until now.

Bethesda and Virtuos unexpectedly launched Oblivion Remastered directly onto Game Pass yesterday. Though widely rumored, the sudden release still felt astonishing. Tomorrow brings Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Sandfall Interactive's visually striking debut inspired by legendary JRPGs. As an RPG enthusiast, I must concede: Microsoft finally won me over.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Arrive on Game Pass

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered shadow-dropped on April 22 for PC, consoles, and Game Pass. Like many, I spent my day downloading and my evening immersed in its iconic soundtrack. This near-remake features updated character models, refined combat mechanics, and enhanced visual effects. While featuring new voice actors, Virtuos preserved the original game's charmingly awkward dialogue. Priced at $49.99 for the base edition (including original DLCs), a $59.99 deluxe version is also available.

Meanwhile, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 marks French developer Sandfall Interactive's highly anticipated debut. Launching tonight at 12am PST with a 92 Metacritic score, IGN's 9/10 review praises its narrative design as "a true modern throwback." The game's Persona-inspired UI and innovative turn-based combat system stood out in previews. Notably, it shares the $49.99 price point with Oblivion Remastered.

While Expedition 33 was April's Game Pass headliner, Oblivion Remastered's surprise release has raised concerns about overshadowing the indie title. Personally, I see this as getting two exceptional experiences – with Game Pass making both more affordable. Rather than spending $100 on separate purchases, a $20 Game Pass Ultimate subscription grants access to both. My only concern now? When I'll step away from the screen.

The service continues expanding with 2025's major releases like Blue Prince, South of Midnight, and Avowed, alongside staples such as GTA V and the complete Call of Duty catalog. The diversity truly offers something for every gamer.

Game Pass Offers Unbeatable Value Currently

Game Pass Ultimate starts at $19.99/month, providing full library access across console, PC, and cloud platforms. PC-exclusive membership reduces this to $9.99/month. The $14.99 Standard and $9.99 Core tiers exclude day-one releases. Following July 2024's price increase, with such premium additions, another adjustment seems plausible this year.

While no active promotions exist currently, three-month subscriptions may hedge against future price hikes. For competing platforms, explore our PS5, PC, and Switch deals breakdown. Notably, U.S. preorders for Nintendo Switch 2 become available tonight.
