Wolcen Studio has announced the launch of Project Pantheon, an exciting new free-to-play combat role-playing game that introduces elements of extraction shooter mechanics. The first closed alpha testing phase will kick off on January 25 for players in Europe, followed by North American players joining in on February 1.
Game director Andrei Cirkulete shared his vision, stating, "We've blended the tension and risk reward of an extraction shooter with the battle dynamics of combat role-playing games." The game draws inspiration from popular titles like Diablo and Escape from Tarkov, aiming to create a thrilling gameplay experience. Players will assume the role of a messenger of Death, tasked with restoring order to a world in ruins. They'll face off against AI opponents and other players while exploring various maps. Successful evacuations will allow them to keep their hard-earned trophies, but failure means losing all collected loot.
In Project Pantheon, players have the freedom to build and customize their own bases, personalize their equipment, and experiment with different play styles. The game's setting draws from world mythologies, with the initial adventure taking place in "Destiny's Edge," inspired by Scandinavian legends. The economy of the game is built around player trading, adding another layer of strategy and interaction.
Despite being in the early alpha stage, Wolcen Studio is committed to engaging the community to refine and improve Project Pantheon. They are eager to gather feedback from players to enhance the gaming experience.
