Take-Two Discloses GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 Sales Figures

Despite being over a decade old, Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA 5) continues to dominate the gaming market, having sold an impressive 5 million copies within the last three months alone. Since its debut in September 2013, GTA 5 has solidified its status as one of the best-selling video games of all time.

Similarly, Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2) is experiencing a surge in sales, with the game reaching a total of 70 million copies sold. This figure reflects an increase of 3 million copies sold in the last quarter, a remarkable feat for a title released back in October 2018.

A significant contributor to GTA 5's ongoing success is its multiplayer component, GTA Online. Take-Two Interactive continues to bolster its appeal with regular updates, such as the December 2024 release of Agents of Sabotage, which keeps the player base actively engaged and the game fresh.

Looking ahead, fans have much to anticipate. Take-Two has confirmed the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) for the fall of 2025, while Mafia: The Old Country is slated for a summer launch, and Borderlands 4 is expected to hit the shelves later in the year.

For those eagerly awaiting Grand Theft Auto VI, there's no need to worry about potential delays. The game, heralded as one of the most anticipated in gaming history, remains on track for an autumn release, as mentioned in Take-Two's latest financial presentation. Additionally, Borderlands 4 is confirmed for a 2025 release, though specific dates are yet to be announced.

Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, emphasized Rockstar's meticulous approach to game development, hinting that extra time might be necessary, as seen with previous projects like GTA 5 and RDR2. This cautious strategy underscores the company's commitment to delivering high-quality gaming experiences.
