Speculation that Starfield will soon be confirmed for release on PlayStation 5 intensified over the weekend when fans noticed a PlayStation logo on Bethesda’s official Creations website. The logo was attached to a work-in-progress ship decals Creation for Starfield, and although the Creation was subsequently removed, it has sparked rumors that Bethesda’s sci-fi game, which has been exclusive to PC and Xbox, might soon be available on PS5.
They have added the Playstation logo to a creation. (I think they are beta testers, the logo only appears on one creation)

.reddit-embed-wrapper iframe { margin-left: 0 !important; }The discovery has led to speculation about whether Bethesda is planning a significant content update or possibly a new expansion to coincide with Starfield's potential PS5 release. The game has been relatively quiet in recent months, especially after the lukewarm reception to the Shattered Space expansion. Microsoft, Bethesda's parent company, is expected to hold its annual summer showcase, which could be the perfect venue to unveil more about Starfield's future.
Bethesda has hinted at "exciting things" planned for Starfield this year, amid growing player discontent over communication and updates. In June 2024, Bethesda reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Starfield and confirmed plans for at least one more story expansion following Shattered Space. In an interview with the YouTube channel MrMattyPlays, Bethesda Game Studios' Todd Howard expressed the studio's goal to release an annual story expansion for "hopefully a very long time."

IGN's review of Starfield awarded it a 7/10, noting: “Starfield has a lot of forces working against it, but eventually the allure of its expansive roleplaying quests and respectable combat make its gravitational pull difficult to resist.”
In January, Microsoft’s gaming chief Phil Spencer did not dismiss the possibility of Starfield being released on PS5. Reports from March 2024 suggested that both Starfield and MachineGames’ Indiana Jones and the Great Circle were under consideration for PS5. While Indiana Jones was later confirmed for PS5 with a spring 2025 release window, following its initial launch on PC and Xbox Series X and S, Starfield has yet to be officially announced for PS5. However, Spencer's comments have kept the speculation alive.
Several Xbox titles are already available on PS5, including Rare’s Sea of Thieves, Tango Gameworks’ Hi-Fi Rush, and Obsidian’s Grounded and Pentiment. Microsoft also publishes Minecraft games across various platforms, including PlayStation consoles, and plans to release Doom: The Dark Ages and Ninja Gaiden 4 on PS5 later this year. Additionally, Playground’s Forza Horizon 5 is set to come to PS5 soon. There are even rumors that Microsoft might finally bring Halo to PlayStation after decades of exclusivity.

Spencer has stated that Xbox’s multiplatform strategy aims to increase revenue for Microsoft’s gaming division, especially after the $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard. He emphasized the need to deliver strong results for Microsoft, saying in August last year, “We run a business. It’s definitely true inside of Microsoft the bar is high for us in terms of the delivery we have to give back to the company. Because we get a level of support from the company that’s just amazing and what we’re able to go do. So I look at this, how can we make our games as strong as possible? Our platform continues to grow, on console, on PC, and on cloud. It’s just going to be a strategy that works for us.”
Bethesda Game Studios, with its 450-person team, is currently juggling five projects: Starfield, Elder Scrolls 6, Fallout 76, mobile games, and external development partnerships.
