No Return Mode: New Characters and Maps
Naughty Dog is expanding the No Return Mode experience with two brand-new characters from *The Last of Us Part I*: Bill and Marlene. Here’s what players can expect:
Bill brings a “Smuggler” playstyle, allowing access to a custom pump shotgun through dead drops and offering double rewards from item drops. He excels in melee combat but lacks dodge capabilities.
Marlene, on the other hand, plays as a “Risk Taker” equipped with a custom assault rifle, “All or Nothing” gambits, and the ability to reroute her path once per run—offering strategic flexibility and fresh gameplay dynamics.
In addition to the new characters, four new maps are joining the No Return rotation:
- Overlook – A vertical map based on the Seraphites encounter area in Seattle.
- School – Set in the same abandoned elementary school where Ellie and Dina faced off against the W.L.F.
- Streets – Located in the overgrown Hillcrest neighborhood of Seattle.
- Nest – A familiar Infected-infested building previously explored during Abby’s campaign segment.
All new No Return content—including updated Trophies and bug fixes—will be released day-and-date with the PC version via a free 2.0.0 downloadable patch on PlayStation 5.
PSN Sign-In Incentives
While PSN login remains optional for the PC version of *The Last of Us Part II Remastered*, players who choose to sign in gain access to the PlayStation overlay and synchronized PSN Trophies. As a bonus incentive, those who log in will receive 50 in-game points to unlock exclusive features, along with a special skin for Ellie featuring Jordan A. Mun’s jacket from Naughty Dog’s upcoming title
This skin will also be available to PS5 players via the 2.0 update, redeemable using in-game bonus points.
More on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet
Earlier this month, *The Last of Us* director Neil Druckmann shared further insights into
Featuring Tati Gabrielle as protagonist Jordan A. Mun, the game represents a bold narrative shift for Naughty Dog, moving away from mainstream expectations and toward more introspective storytelling.
“I joke about this with the team. We made a game, *The Last of Us 2*, we made certain creative decisions that got us a lot of hate. A lot of people love it, but a lot of people hate that game,” Druckmann said. “But the joke is like, you know what, let's do something that people won't care as much about — let's make a game about faith and religion.”
As anticipation builds for Season 2 of HBO’s acclaimed *The Last of Us* TV series, fans can look forward to the return of spores—confirmed to be featured following their absence in Season 1—further bridging the gap between the games and live-action adaptations.
