Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, the upcoming kart racer from Sega and Sonic Team, promises the biggest roster in franchise history. A recent PlayStation.blog post detailed exciting new features and mechanics, offering a glimpse into the upcoming closed network test.
A Massive Cast of Characters
The game boasts a launch roster of 23 characters, with more planned post-launch. The revealed lineup includes fan favorites like Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy, alongside characters from Sonic Riders (Jet, Wave, Storm), the Deadly Six (Zavok, Zazz), Team Dark (Shadow, Rouge, E-123 Omega), Dr. Eggman and his creations (Egg Pawn, Metal Sonic), the Chaotix (Vector, Charmy, Espio), and even Blaze, Silver, Cream, and Big.
Dynamic Racing with CrossWorlds
Prepare for a revolutionary racing experience! Travel Rings transport racers between diverse CrossWorlds in real-time, dramatically altering the race landscape. Each CrossWorld offers unique themed environments, filled with surprises, monsters, obstacles, and stunning scenery. Expect dynamic tracks, inspired by Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, that change with each lap, demanding constant adaptation. The game features 24 main tracks and 15 CrossWorlds to explore.
Customization, Gadgets, and Extreme Gear Return!
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds offers extensive vehicle customization, allowing players to modify front and rear parts, wheels, colors, tire and cockpit glow, and more. Players can also equip their characters with 23 different gadgets to tailor their racing style. The highly anticipated Extreme Gear from Sonic Riders makes a comeback, offering hoverboard-based, boost-heavy racing. Sonic Creative Officer Takashi Iizuka calls it "a great culmination of all the Sonic Racing series games to date."
