Pokémon Fossil Museum to Display Real and Fake Fossils in U.S. Next Year

by Grace May 25,2025

The Pokémon Company has officially announced that the Pokémon Fossil Museum will make its North American debut in May 2026. If you're curious about what the Pokémon Fossil Museum entails, it's an enthralling exhibition that juxtaposes the imaginative world of Pokémon "fossils" with the tangible remnants of ancient lifeforms found in real-world fossils. Following a successful run in Japan, this unique display is set to captivate audiences at Chicago's Field Museum starting May 22, 2026, marking its first venture outside Japan.

The Field Museum promises an engaging experience where visitors can explore vibrant Pokémon models alongside the museum's impressive collection of extinct lifeforms. This includes scientific casts of renowned Field Museum dinosaurs such as SUE the T. rex and the Chicago Archaeopteryx, displayed alongside Fossil Pokémon like Tyrantrum and Archeops. The museum invites Pokémon Trainers to discover both the differences and similarities between these ancient beings and their Pokémon counterparts.

Pokémon enthusiasts can now embark on a virtual tour of the exhibit, allowing them to explore the fascinating collection of real and Pokémon fossils from the comfort of their own space, featuring everything from a tyrannosaurus to a Tyrantrum.

In other Pokémon-related news, a man in the UK was recently arrested after police discovered a stash of stolen Pokémon cards valued at £250,000 (approximately $332,500). The discovery was made following a raid on a residence in Hyde, Tameside, on the outskirts of Greater Manchester. A spokesperson from the Greater Manchester Police couldn't resist a playful nod to the Pokémon franchise, commenting, "Gotta catch 'em all."
