The Pokémon Company has recently addressed the widespread shortages of the highly anticipated Scarlet and Violet — Prismatic Evolutions set, expressing gratitude to fans for their patience. This acknowledgment marks the first time the company has publicly discussed the challenges surrounding this upcoming expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG).
Announced in early November 2024, Prismatic Evolutions was designed to kick off 2025 with a bang, with its international release set for January 17. Despite the excitement, the set has faced significant supply issues globally, including in the United States, leading to widespread fan frustration.
Responding to weeks of complaints on social media, The Pokémon Company issued a statement to IGN, acknowledging the shortages and the difficulty fans have faced in securing the new products. "We understand this inconvenience can be disappointing for fans, and we are actively working to print more of the impacted Pokémon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity to acknowledge this," a spokesperson stated.
Pokémon TCG Prismatic Evolutions Reprints Are Coming Soon
To address the shortages, The Pokémon Company is currently producing reprints of the Prismatic Evolutions set. These reprints are expected to reach licensed distributors soon, although a specific timeline has not been provided. While some fans have pointed fingers at scalpers, the company attributes the shortages to high demand without further elaboration.
More Pokémon TCG Prismatic Evolutions Products Are Also on the Horizon
In addition to the reprints, The Pokémon Company has teased more Prismatic Evolutions products slated for release in the coming months. As previously announced in November 2024, fans can look forward to a variety of new items. A Mini Tin and Surprise Box are set to debut on February 7, followed by a Booster Bundle and an Accessory Pouch Special Collection on March 7 and April 25, respectively. The Prismatic Evolutions Super-Premium Collection will be available on May 16, with a Premium Figure Collection rounding out the lineup on September 26.
For those eager to get their hands on the new cards, the Pokémon TCG Live mobile game will offer Prismatic Evolutions cards through its Battle Pass starting January 16, providing an early opportunity to explore the new set.
