Pokémon TCG Pocket finally tackles trading in new update, but it\'s not coming until autumn

by Violet Mar 22,2025

Pokémon TCG Pocket is making significant changes to its trading system, addressing player concerns about the previous method's limitations. The update removes Trade Tokens entirely, replacing them with Shinedust. Shinedust is earned by opening booster packs and receiving duplicate cards already in your Card Dex. Existing Trade Tokens will be automatically converted to Shinedust.

Further changes are planned, including adjustments to Shinedust acquisition and the implementation of an in-game sharing feature to facilitate trades. This feature will allow players to showcase cards they are interested in trading.

The initial trading system faced criticism due to the difficulty in obtaining Trade Tokens and restrictions on trading. These changes aim to simplify and improve the trading experience. However, the implementation of these updates is expected in the autumn, indicating a slower-than-desired rollout.

yt The complexities of digital trading necessitated stricter regulations compared to real-life trading to prevent exploitation. While the game developers have acknowledged and addressed these issues, the timeline for the complete implementation of these improvements extends into the autumn.
