Pirate Software Removed from OnlyFangs WoW Guild

Summary

  • Pirate Software was removed from the OnlyFangs guild after causing Hardcore deaths during a botched Dire Maul North run.
  • He refused to accept responsibility for the deaths, leading to his expulsion by Guild Master Sodapoppin.

Pirate Software has been expelled from the World of Warcraft streamer guild, OnlyFangs, following a disastrous Dire Maul North run. This incident occurred after Dire Maul was introduced to the World of Warcraft Anniversary servers, leading to several Hardcore deaths within OnlyFangs.

Before Blizzard officially introduced Hardcore servers to the Classic client in August 2023, players had been self-imposing zero-death rules. The popularity of these servers waned until the Anniversary servers were launched in November 2024, revitalizing World of Warcraft Classic and causing a decline in the original Classic server populations. Since the introduction of these Anniversary servers, numerous Hardcore players have faced death, while others have successfully reached level 60 under these challenging conditions. Among the recent casualties in World of Warcraft Classic Hardcore are Sara and Snupy, prompting Guild Master Sodapoppin to remove the responsible player, Pirate Software, from OnlyFangs.

Multiple social media posts and a Discord statement from Sodapoppin confirm Pirate Software's removal from the guild. The statement highlighted that the majority of guild members felt uneasy continuing to play with Pirate Software after the deaths of two members during the Dire Maul North run. The group's troubles began when they aggroed a boss before clearing a pack of Gordok ogres, leading to a chaotic retreat from the dungeon. Pirate Software's decision to abandon the group during this escape, coupled with his refusal to acknowledge his role in the deaths of Sara and Snupy, sealed his fate. Despite the possibility of remaining in the guild under normal circumstances, Pirate Software's stance led to his removal. The incident, which includes strong language, can be viewed here.

This is Why Pirate Software Was Kicked From the World of Warcraft Guild OnlyFangs

The primary criticism leveled against Pirate Software was his refusal to accept responsibility for the two Hardcore deaths, particularly for not effectively using crowd control abilities. During a review of the run, popular Twitch streamer Sodapoppin noted that Pirate Software could have used Blizzard rank 1 to slow down the enemies without exhausting his mana reserves. Other OnlyFangs members, such as Mizkif, have suggested that Pirate Software's threats to fellow streamers post-incident also contributed to his removal. In response to his expulsion, Pirate Software took to Twitter to express his belief that the situation was mishandled.

Since the guild's recreation on the Anniversary server Doomhowl, several members have been removed, and some may form their own groups. With Blizzard continuing to update World of Warcraft Classic with Vanilla-accurate patches, the addition of new dungeons and raids could lead to more OnlyFangs deaths.
