Palworld Update 0.5.0 Adds Crossplay Across All Platforms, Blueprint Upgrading, Photo Mode and More

by Peyton Mar 21,2025

Palworld’s massive v0.5.0 update introduces cross-platform play, a game-changer for players across all platforms. This update also significantly enhances Pal management with the Global Palbox, offering ten times the storage capacity of the standard Palbox. Guild members gain access, and private settings allow for personal use.

Beyond Pal storage, players can now enjoy character customization with a new cosmetic armor system (transmog), allowing appearance changes without impacting stats. A highly anticipated photo mode, blueprint upgrading, and dedicated servers for Mac users are also included. Dedicated servers for PlayStation 5 are in development and will be released at a later date.

Since its January 2024 early access launch, Palworld has amassed an incredible 32 million players. A detailed content roadmap for 2025 promises even more, including an "ending scenario" and additional content for this immensely popular creature-catching survival game. Its initial launch on Steam ($30) and simultaneous arrival on Xbox and PC Game Pass broke sales and concurrent player records. The game's success was so significant that developer Pocketpair publicly acknowledged struggling to manage the resulting profits. Despite this, they quickly capitalized on Palworld's popularity, partnering with Sony to establish Palworld Entertainment, expanding the IP and bringing the game to PS5.

Currently, Palworld faces a lawsuit from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, alleging patent infringement. Pocketpair has responded, detailing the specific patents in question and implementing changes to Pal summoning mechanics. The studio remains committed to defending its position in court.
