Palworld Gets Crossplay Late March as Part of Big Update

by Matthew Mar 24,2025

Palworld developer Pocketpair is gearing up for a significant update set to launch in late March 2025, which will introduce crossplay functionality across all platforms. This eagerly anticipated update will also feature a world transfer system for Pals. In a recent post on X/Twitter, the studio shared a promotional image showcasing various Palworld characters engaged in combat with a formidable Pal, hinting at the exciting developments to come.

John 'Bucky' Buckley, Pocketpair's Communications Director and Publishing Manager, teased that the March update will also include "a few little surprises," adding to the anticipation. This news comes as a boon for the 32 million players who have embraced Palworld since its early access launch in January 2024. The studio has outlined an extensive content roadmap for 2025, which includes not only crossplay but also an "ending scenario" and additional new content for the popular creature-catching survival game.

Palworld made a splash upon its release, debuting on Steam for $30 and simultaneously launching on Xbox and PC via Game Pass. The game shattered sales and concurrent player records, prompting Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe to admit that the studio was overwhelmed by the massive profits generated. Swiftly capitalizing on this success, Pocketpair inked a deal with Sony to establish Palworld Entertainment, a new venture aimed at expanding the game's intellectual property and bringing Palworld to the PS5.

However, overshadowing these developments is a lawsuit from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. The companies are seeking an injunction and damages, alleging that Palworld has infringed on "multiple" patent rights. In response, Pocketpair has identified the specific patents in question and made adjustments to how players summon Pals in the game. The studio remains steadfast, vowing to defend its position in court and continue asserting its stance in future legal proceedings.
