Omori’s Switch and PS4 Physical Release Cancellation in Europe
A Series of Unfortunate Delays
European fans of the RPG "Omori" faced disappointing news when Meridiem Games, the game's European publisher, announced the cancellation of the physical release for Nintendo Switch and PS4. The announcement came via a Twitter(X) post, where the publisher cited technical difficulties with multilingual European localization as the reason behind the decision.
When queried about the specifics of these localization problems, Meridiem Games stated they could not provide further details beyond the initial announcement. This lack of transparency left fans seeking more information about the cancellation.
The physical release had initially been slated for March 2023, according to listings on retailers like Amazon. However, it faced multiple delays, first being pushed back to December 2023, then to March 2024, and finally to January 2025. Those who had pre-ordered the game received notifications from Amazon about these delays, culminating in the ultimate cancellation announcement.
The cancellation is particularly disheartening for fans as it would have marked the first time "Omori" was officially available in Spanish and other European languages. While the game remains available digitally, fans wishing for a physical copy in Europe will now need to import a US version.

"Omori" is a poignant RPG that follows the story of Sunny, a young boy grappling with isolation after a traumatic event. The narrative shifts between the real world and Sunny's dream world, where he assumes the persona of Omori. Originally launched on PC in December 2020, the game saw an expansion to Switch, PS4, and Xbox in 2022. However, its availability on Xbox was short-lived due to controversy surrounding an inappropriate T-shirt design sold by OMOCAT on their website in 2013, leading to its removal from the Xbox platform.
