Ninja Gaiden 2 Black: New Game+ & More!

by Dylan Mar 14,2025

Team Ninja has released a significant update (version 1.0.7.0) for Ninja Gaiden Master Collection’s Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, delivering highly anticipated features and numerous improvements. Available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam & Microsoft Store), this patch fulfills a promise made in January to address community feedback.

Key additions include New Game Plus, allowing players to restart the game on any previously completed difficulty, retaining all acquired weapons and Ninpo (though these will be reset to level 1). Note that difficulty cannot be increased directly via New Game Plus. A much-requested Photo Mode has also been added, offering in-game camera control for capturing stunning screenshots. For enhanced visual customization, players can now toggle the visibility of their projectile weapon via a new option in the Game Settings menu.

Balance adjustments include HP reductions for enemies in Chapters 8 and 11, increased enemy counts in Chapters 13 and 14, and a damage boost to some of Ayane's attacks. The patch also addresses a range of bugs, including those impacting high-performance PCs, game-breaking issues in specific chapters, and stability problems during extended play sessions.

Originally a surprise release during January's Xbox Developer Direct, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, a reimagining of the classic action title built using Unreal Engine 5, boasts enhanced visuals, new playable characters, and improved combat mechanics. IGN's 8/10 review praised its visual improvements over Sigma 2 while noting that the adjusted enemy health might prevent it from being the definitive version.
