Square Enix Announced NieR 15th Anniversary Special Novel
As part of the NieR 15th Anniversary celebrations, Square Enix announced a range of new projects and events during their livestream on April 19. One of the highlights was the introduction of the online Special Novel titled [U]ndecided Option. This novel will be released in three parts, with the first part already accessible. The subsequent updates are scheduled for April 25 and May 2. The novel's intriguing premise is described as, “Such a 'servant' meets a mysterious boy with a mysterious air and is guided.”
To keep fans updated and engaged, Square Enix has also launched a dedicated 15th Anniversary website, serving as the main hub for the special novel and other related projects and events planned for the anniversary.
Exhibition, Concerts, Merchandise, and More
Square Enix is set to host an exhibition at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Japan, showcasing new artwork of the protagonists from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation. Details on tickets and other information will be shared in the near future.
Music lovers can look forward to additional performances of the NieR: Orchestra Concert 12024 in Osaka on July 25 and 26, and in Tokyo on August 2 and 3. Tickets are currently available through a lottery system, with more information available on the concert's official website.
Fans can also anticipate a variety of new merchandise, including an album featuring newly recorded jazz arrangements from NieR: Dinner Show – Somethin’ or Other 12024, set for release in December 2024. Additionally, the NieR Weapon Story book will offer over 650 stories related to weapons from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation, along with scale figures of the series' protagonists.
Re[in]carnation Developer Blog
The NieR series' first mobile title, NieR Re[in]carnation, will launch a developer blog series starting April 28, with monthly updates planned for the rest of the year. This blog will provide insights into the development process behind Re[in]carnation.
Originally released in January 2021, Re[in]carnation was unfortunately shut down in April 2024 due to monetization challenges. The announcement of a developer blog for a discontinued game has sparked speculation among fans about potential sequels or remakes, though no official statements have been made.
