Let's revisit our monthly Marvel Snap (Free) deck-building guide, a little earlier this month to compensate for last month's slight delay. A new month and season brings fresh challenges, and I'm here to offer competitive deck strategies. Last month saw a period of relative balance, but the new season introduces new cards, potentially upsetting the meta. Let's explore the evolving landscape. Remember: today's winning deck might be obsolete tomorrow. These guides offer a snapshot of the current meta, but they shouldn't be your sole source of strategic information.
These decks represent the current top-tier strategies, assuming access to a comprehensive card collection. I'll highlight five top-performing decks, along with a couple of more accessible and fun options for variety.
The Young Avengers cards haven't significantly impacted the meta, except for Kate Bishop (as usual) and Marvel Boy (beneficial for 1-cost Kazoo decks). However, the new Amazing Spider-Season and the Activate ability are game-changers, promising a drastically different meta next month.
Kazar and Gilgamesh
Cards Included: Ant-Man, Nebula, Squirrel Girl, Dazzler, Kate Bishop, Marvel Boy, Caeira, Shanna, Kazar, Blue Marvel, Gilgamesh, Mockingbird
Unexpectedly, a Kazoo deck is now a top contender, thanks to the Young Avengers. The core strategy remains familiar: deploy low-cost cards and buff them with Kazar and Blue Marvel. Marvel Boy provides additional buffs, and Gilgamesh thrives in this boosted environment. Kate Bishop and her arrows offer Dazzler support, while lowering the cost of Mockingbird. This strong deck's long-term viability remains to be seen.
Silver Surfer Still Reigns Supreme, Part II
Cards Included: Nova, Forge, Cassandra Nova, Brood, Silver Surfer, Killmonger, Hope Summers, Nocturne, Sebastian Shaw, Copycat, Absorbing Man, Gwenpool
Silver Surfer decks persist, with minor adjustments for balance changes and new cards. The classic Nova/Killmonger combo boosts early plays. Forge enhances Brood's clones, Gwenpool buffs cards in hand, Shaw gains power from buffs, Hope provides extra energy, Cassandra Nova steals power from the opponent, and the Surfer/Absorbing Man combo delivers a powerful finish. Copycat replaces Red Guardian as a versatile tool.
Spectrum and Man-Thing Ongoing Domination
Cards Included: Wasp, Ant-Man, Howard the Duck, Armor, US Agent, Lizard, Captain America, Cosmo, Luke Cage, Ms. Marvel, Man-Thing, Spectrum
The Ongoing archetype also holds a top spot. This deck utilizes cards with Ongoing abilities, significantly buffed by Spectrum's end-game boost. The Luke Cage/Man-Thing synergy is potent, with Luke Cage protecting cards from US Agent. This deck's simplicity and Cosmo's growing utility make it a strong contender.
Discard Dracula: A Classic Returns
Cards Included: Blade, Morbius, The Collector, Swarm, Colleen Wing, Moon Knight, Corvus Glaive, Lady Sif, Dracula, Proxima Midnight, MODOK, Apocalypse
This reliable Apocalypse-style Discard deck features Moon Knight (enhanced post-buff). Morbius and Dracula are the key cards, aiming for a final-round Apocalypse play, followed by Dracula consuming him for a massive boost, while Morbius capitalizes on discarding. The Collector can add unexpected power if Swarm plays are numerous.
The Unstoppable Destroy Deck
Cards Included: Deadpool, Niko Minoru, X-23, Carnage, Wolverine, Killmonger, Deathlok, Attuma, Nimrod, Knull, Death
The Destroy deck, almost unchanged, includes Attuma (significantly improved after a recent buff). The strategy focuses on destroying Deadpool and Wolverine, gaining extra energy with X-23, and finishing with a Nimrod swarm or Knull. The absence of Arnim Zola reflects the increasing prevalence of counter-strategies.
Here are a couple of fun, more accessible decks:
Darkhawk's Resurgence
Cards Included: The Hood, Spider-Ham, Korg, Niko Minoru, Cassandra Nova, Moon Knight, Rockslide, Viper, Proxima Midnight, Darkhawk, Blackbolt, Stature
This deck leverages Darkhawk's strengths, incorporating Korg and Rockslide to add cards to the opponent's deck. Spider-Ham and Cassandra Nova provide disruption, while other cards trigger discarding and reduce Stature's cost.
Budget Kazar: A Beginner-Friendly Variant
Cards Included: Ant-Man, Elektra, Ice Man, Nightcrawler, Armor, Mister Fantastic, Cosmo, Kazar, Namor, Blue Marvel, Klaw, Onslaught
This simpler Kazar deck is ideal for newer players. While not as consistently winning as the top-tier version, it teaches the core combo mechanics, utilizing Kazar, Blue Marvel, and Onslaught.
This month's deck guide concludes here. The new season and potential balance changes will likely reshape the meta by October. The Activate ability and Symbiote Spider-Man are significant additions. It will be interesting to see which cards and decks Second Dinner addresses with balance patches. The return of classic decks to the top is notable, but likely temporary. Until next time… happy snapping!
