Warhorse Studios confirms: Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (KCD2) will launch DRM-free. This follows player concerns and misinformation circulating online about the game's use of anti-piracy software.
No DRM for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
Rumors of DRM in KCD2 are false, according to Warhorse Studios.
In a recent Twitch stream, Warhorse PR head Tobias Stolz-Zwilling explicitly stated that KCD2 will not utilize any DRM system, including Denuvo. He addressed the confusion caused by previous, inaccurate statements, urging players to stop repeatedly asking about DRM. Stolz-Zwilling emphasized that any unconfirmed information about KCD2's use of DRM is untrue.
The decision to forgo DRM addresses player concerns about potential performance issues and negative experiences associated with anti-piracy technologies like Denuvo. These concerns, according to Denuvo product manager Andreas Ullmann, are often rooted in misinformation and confirmation bias.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, set in medieval Bohemia, follows Henry's journey after a devastating event in his village. The game launches February 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Kickstarter backers who pledged at least $200 will receive a free copy.
