Infinity Nikki has unveiled an exciting behind-the-scenes documentary, showcasing the meticulous development process of their highly-anticipated open-world game, set to debut on PC and PlayStation. Dive in to discover the passion and dedication that has gone into crafting this new chapter in the Nikki series.
A Sneak Peek Into Miraland
Mark your calendars for December 4th (EST/PST) as Infinity Nikki, the fashion-focused open-world game, is poised to launch. A recent 25-minute documentary offers a heartfelt look at the years of dedication and passion poured into the game by its core team members.
The journey of Infinity Nikki began in December 2019, sparked by the Nikki series’ producer's vision of an open-world adventure with Nikki at its heart. To keep the project under wraps, the team operated from a secluded office, gradually building a dedicated team and laying the groundwork for this ambitious project over more than a year.
Game designer Sha Dingyu highlighted the unique challenge of blending the Nikki IP's dress-up mechanics with an expansive open-world setting. This required building a new framework from the ground up, a process that took years of research and development.
Despite the challenges, the team's commitment to bringing this dream to life never wavered. The Nikki franchise, which began with NikkuUp2U in 2012, has evolved significantly with Infinity Nikki marking its fifth installment and the first to be available on PC and console in addition to mobile. CTO Fei Ge emphasized the team's drive for technological advancement and the evolution of the Nikki IP. This dedication was symbolized by the producer's creation of a clay model of the Grand Millewish Tree, embodying the passion that fuels the team.
The documentary also offers glimpses of the enchanting world of Miraland, where players will explore the majestic Grand Millewish Tree and its surrounding areas, home to the delightful Faewish Sprites. The world of Miraland is brought to life with NPCs who have their own daily routines, adding depth and vibrancy to the game's environment, as noted by game designer Xiao Li.
A Star-Studded Cast
The stunning visuals and polished gameplay of Infinity Nikki are a testament to the talent behind it. The team includes seasoned professionals like Lead Sub Director Kentaro "Tomiken" Tominaga, known for his work on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and concept artist Andrzej Dybowski, who contributed to The Witcher 3.
From the official start of development on December 28th, 2019, it has been a 1814-day journey to the game's launch on December 4th, 2024. As the release date approaches, excitement continues to build for the adventure that awaits in Miraland with Nikki and her loyal companion, Momo.
