Hyper Light Breaker: How to Get Golden Rations

Hyper Light Breaker features several resources, with Golden Rations being the rarest and crucial for essential upgrades. The game doesn't explicitly explain resource acquisition, but this guide clarifies how to obtain Golden Rations reliably.

Where to Get Golden Rations

Currently, two primary methods exist for acquiring Golden Rations: exploration and cycle resets. During gameplay, explore for chest icons on the map. These chests often contain resources for upgrades, and some may contain Golden Rations (indicated by the Golden Ration icon above the chest). Areas with Prisms (golden diamond icons) frequently have nearby Golden Ration chests.

Alternatively, utilize cycle resets. A cycle represents an Overgrowth instance, resetting when your revives reach zero. After depleting revives, you can retry the map (losing resources) or reset the cycle at the Cursed Outpost. Successful cycle resets yield a score; ranking up provides Golden Rations as rewards.

What are Golden Rations For?

Golden Rations are vital for progression in Hyper Light Breaker, primarily unlocking permanent upgrades at your home base. Spend them on character upgrades or new vendor services.

Furthermore, Golden Rations unlock Sycoms—items defining your Breaker's stats and passive abilities, thus shaping their playstyle.

Upon obtaining your first Golden Ration, prioritize the extra medkit upgrade from Pherus Bit. This significantly improves survivability, especially considering the game's punishing combat system.

Note: Resources found during runs persist even upon death. However, equipped weapons, amps, and perks sustain damage (one pip), potentially resulting in permanent loss.
