Harrison Ford Joins Marvel for Fun, Unbothered by Indiana Jones 5 Flop

by Andrew May 29,2025

Legendary actor Harrison Ford, known for his iconic roles in Star Wars and Indiana Jones, recently expressed nonchalance regarding the critical and commercial failure of "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny". Speaking to The Wall Street Journal Magazine, he acknowledged the financial loss—estimated at $100 million—and the mixed reception, yet remains unfazed. "S**t happens," he remarked, emphasizing his satisfaction with contributing to the story he believed needed telling.

Ford, who expressed a desire to revisit the aging Indy's journey, felt compelled to give the character one last shot at redemption. "When [Indy] had suffered the consequences of the life that he had to live, I wanted one more chance to pick him up and shake the dust off his ass and stick him out there, bereft of some of his vigor, to see what happened," he explained. Despite the outcome, he expressed pride in being part of the project.

This outlook hasn’t deterred him from joining another beloved franchise. In the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World, Ford steps into the role of Thaddeus Ross, taking over from the late William Hurt. In this installment, Ross assumes a larger role as Red Hulk. Interestingly, Ford joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe without full knowledge of the character’s evolution, admitting he hadn’t read the script at the time. His decision stemmed purely from curiosity and the excitement of working with admired actors in the MCU.

"I didn’t really know that at the end I would turn into the Red Hulk. Well, it’s like life. You only get so far in the kit until the last page of the instructions is missing," he humorously noted.

Brave New World, scheduled for release on Valentine's Day, marks several milestones: it's one of the shortest MCU films to date, features Anthony Mackie as Captain America for the first time, and reintroduces a deep-cut character from Marvel lore, The Leader, as teased in The Incredible Hulk.
