After years of battling Ghouls, *Fallout 76* now invites players to experience life from their perspective. A new questline, "Leap of Faith," offers this unique opportunity, but is it something you should take on? Let's delve into the pros and cons of becoming a Ghoul in *Fallout 76*.

How to Become a Ghoul in Fallout 76

A Ghoul in Fallout 76.

To embrace your inner Ghoul, you must first reach level 50 and then accept the "Leap of Faith" questline. This journey will lead you to the Savage Divide, where you'll meet characters pivotal to your transformation. The process is straightforward, but the decision is significant due to the various implications it brings.

Pros of Becoming a Ghoul in Fallout 76

Becoming a Ghoul unlocks new abilities like Feral and Glow, enhancing your gameplay in exciting ways. The Feral meter, starting at 100%, decreases over time but can be replenished with Chems. Here's how the Feral meter impacts your stats:

  • Above 80%: +3 Strength, +3 Endurance, +30 Max HP
  • Above 60%: +15 Max HP
  • Above 40%: -1 Endurance, -5 Max HP
  • Above 20%: -3 Endurance, -15 Max HP, -10 Max AP
  • At 0%: +150% Melee Damage, -5 Endurance, -99 Charisma, -30 Max HP, -20 Max AP, -300% Hip-fire Gun Accuracy & V.A.T.S. Accuracy

The Glow ability increases your maximum health and allows you to heal from radiation damage, encouraging you to explore irradiated areas and consume unconventional food sources.

Additionally, Ghouls gain access to a new set of Perk cards that complement the standard human Perk cards, providing significant gameplay advantages. As a Ghoul, you're also immune to diseases and don't need to worry about regular food intake.

Cons of Becoming a Ghoul in Fallout 76

However, transforming into a Ghoul isn't without its downsides. Engaging in the "Leap of Faith" questline may put you at odds with certain factions, potentially complicating your quest completions and gameplay experience. Moreover, your Charisma will decrease, making social interactions less rewarding.

Fortunately, Fallout 76 offers solutions to these issues. A new NPC, Jaye Vo, introduced in the "Leap of Faith" questline, provides disguises to help you navigate faction tensions and continue your missions smoothly.

Should You Become a Ghoul in Fallout 76?

Despite these challenges, the advantages of becoming a Ghoul in Fallout 76 are compelling. The new abilities and Perk cards offer fresh gameplay dynamics that are hard to resist. If you later decide to revert to your human form, you can do so via the Character screen, though you'll need to wait until the "Leap of Faith" questline is complete before transforming back into a Ghoul, at a cost of 1,000 Atoms.

Armed with this knowledge, it's time to venture into the Savage Divide and explore the new possibilities that come with being a Ghoul.

Fallout 76 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
