Following the releases of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, not all CD Projekt RED veterans remained with the company. Some chose to pursue The Blood of Dawnwalker.
Recently revealed, The Blood of Dawnwalker is developed by Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by a CD Projekt RED veteran.
Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, explaining his departure from CDPR, highlighted these key points:
The desire to pursue different creative avenues with close friends led to the founding of Rebel Wolves. Their passion for RPGs and their history is undeniable. However, Tomaszkiewicz believes RPG conventions can be significantly expanded upon. The team conceived ambitious, unconventional ideas. Securing buy-in for such innovative concepts and new intellectual property from a large corporation proved challenging. Therefore, establishing their own studio became the only path to realize their vision. This approach, while inherently risky due to the unconventional nature of their solutions, offers unique advantages.
Unlike the complexities of large studios, Rebel Wolves prioritizes strong interpersonal relationships and open communication within its smaller team. This fosters a more collaborative environment, simplifying the process of sharing a vision and igniting creative energy. The result is a streamlined approach to developing something truly unique.
