Dune: Awakening, the highly anticipated open-world survival MMO inspired by Frank Herbert's iconic sci-fi novels and Denis Villeneuve's cinematic adaptations, has been postponed to June 10, 2025. Funcom, the game's developer, announced this delay while revealing that eager fans can gain early access to the game starting June 5 by purchasing either the Deluxe Edition or the Ultimate Edition.

Funcom cited feedback from its ongoing Persistent Closed Beta as the reason behind the delay, stating that the extra time would allow the team to "cook" the game a bit longer. This additional period will enable them to incorporate changes identified during the beta and respond to player requests. Furthermore, Funcom plans to host a large-scale beta weekend next month, offering more players the chance to experience the game and provide valuable feedback.
While the delay might disappoint those eager to dive into the sands of Arrakis, Funcom is set to host a combat livestream today at 12pm ET/9am PT. This event will delve deeper into the game's PvP and PvE mechanics, archetypes, and skills, offering fans a fresh look at what to expect.
Here at IGN, we're thrilled about Dune: Awakening. As we noted in our hands-on preview, "It's easy to be skeptical about an MMO survival game set in the Duniverse, but after enduring bouts of dehydration and sunstroke, my day spent in Arrakis convinced me that Dune: Awakening is definitely one to watch."
