A Decade in the Making
The development of Dragon Age: The Veilguard has spanned nearly a decade, facing numerous delays. Initially conceived after Dragon Age: Inquisition in 2015, the project (codenamed "Joplin") was sidelined due to BioWare's focus on Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem. Furthermore, its initial design clashed with the company's shift towards live-service games, leading to a complete development halt.
Revived in 2018 under the codename "Morrison," the game was later announced as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022 before settling on its current title.
Despite the setbacks, the journey is nearing its end. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S this fall. Prepare for your return to Thedas!
