Deltarune Chapter 3 and 4 Updates: Console Testing and Save Transfer

Toby Fox, the creative mind behind the beloved games Undertale and Deltarune, has recently shared exciting updates about the ongoing development of Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4. In a post on his official Bluesky account, Fox revealed that console testing for these chapters is progressing smoothly, despite the extensive work still ahead.

Smooth Progress in Console Testing

"Still console testing. There are fewer bugs, but there's a lot to go through. (Haven't even tested PS5 yet)," Fox mentioned, indicating that while the team is making headway, there remains a significant amount of testing to be completed. Importantly, Fox also touched on the development of a new feature that will allow players to transfer their saves from the demo (Chapters 1 and 2) to the main game upon its full release. This feature, which they've only recently been able to implement thanks to new technology, promises to enhance the continuity of the player experience. "I hope it works!" Fox optimistically added.

With the beta testing showing promising results, fans can look forward to the release of Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4 sometime in 2025, as confirmed by Fox on his Bluesky account.

Introducing Tenna: A New Character in Chapter 3

Amidst the rigorous testing schedule, Toby Fox continues to engage with his community through humorous and engaging updates. Known for his use of internet memes and self-deprecating humor, Fox shared a light-hearted anecdote about a minigame he's been working on for Deltarune. "I showed my family and friends a minigame I've been working on for DR (Deltarune) and they all described it as ‘a cry for help because your game is not out’," he posted, adding that while his family found it amusing, his friend couldn't stop laughing for about 10 minutes.

This update sparked speculation among fans, particularly since Fox had previously confirmed that the content for Chapters 3 and 4 was complete. Some believe the minigame might be a sneak peek into Chapter 5, as Deltarune is planned to have seven chapters in total.

In the same post, Fox mentioned a new character, Tenna, who was first introduced during the Spamton Sweepstakes campaign for the Child’s Play charity in September 2022. Fox's friend expressed missing Tenna, to which Fox humorously responded, "man that's something no one in the world has ever said huh." This confirms that Tenna will indeed appear in the upcoming Chapter 3, adding another layer of intrigue to the game's narrative.

About Deltarune

Deltarune serves as both a parallel and a successor to the critically acclaimed 2015 game, Undertale. While it retains many of the original game's mechanics and quirky charm, Deltarune introduces a fresh storyline and a new cast of characters. Players will follow the adventures of Kris, Susie, and Ralsei as they embark on a quest to save the world, offering a captivating experience filled with surprises and emotional depth.
